The Vifzack Academy is your research week with lots of cool research content, excursions and leisure programs! At the campus of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg, you will gain practical research experience, meet top researchers and spend a week with other students who are just as enthusiastic about research as you are.

Application and selection process

The application and selection process for the Vifzack Academy is organized and implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. All information can be found on the BMBWF website. Once the application process has been completed, you will receive further information on our website.

Vifzack Academy workshop program

Computer Science & Robotics

11 – 12 years

Have you ever watched a robot vacuum cleaner? How does it know where to go? In this group, you will build and program your own robots and learn how to program your own computer game.

Invention workshop – tinker like a scientist!

11 – 12 years

Here you will be whisked away into a world of creativity and design: Together with other young inventors, you will create, test and improve completely new things from everyday materials. In the process, you will learn a lot about the physical principles behind exciting phenomena in a fun way and experience how small mishaps can often lead the way to great successes.

BioLab – Research in the microbiology laboratory

11 – 12 years

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of microorganisms and explore how life works on the smallest scale. Through carefully selected experiments, you will discover structures of life that are invisible to the naked eye. This journey of discovery not only provides an insight into the secrets of the microcosm, but also reveals amazing insights into your own relationship with all living things on earth.

Space Bootcamp

13 – 14 years

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of space! From the adventures of space history, we will embark on a short journey through the universe, through the basics of astrophysics to modern space travel and life on other planets. A workshop full of knowledge, technology and ideas for everyone who is enthusiastic about space!

Math Bootcamp

13 – 14 years

Experience tricky, exciting puzzles and interesting lectures on mathematical topics that will develop your teamwork and problem-solving skills – or simply be fun. Most importantly, you’ll meet people who share the same interests and discover the joy of math together. You don’t have to be a math genius – just bring your curiosity!

Neuroscience Bootcamp

13 – 14 years

If you’ve always wanted to know what our brains can do, then you’ve come to the right place! At the Neuro-Science Bootcamp, we get nerve cells firing, find out how our senses work – and how they can be fooled, and learn what goes on in the laboratory of brain researchers.

Program during the workshop-free period

In addition to the research program, other activities are also on the agenda. These are currently being planned and range from improvisational theater to get to know each other and team building on the day of arrival (Sunday evening) to PowerPoint karaoke and stargazing on a night trip.
