Understanding Autism: How We Study the Brain in the Laboratory
How Do Genes Influence the Development and Function of the Brain?
At ISTA, Emily Haimerl & Sarah Gorkiewicz study autism using mouse models as well as small brain models grown from human cells. These modern technologies allow them to analyze how genetic changes affect brain development and behavior. Their goal is to understand fundamental mechanisms of brain development and, in the long term, to enable new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Afterwards, the group will continue together to the interactive exhibition Science in the Making, where research can be experienced up close.
The tour with Emily and Sarah will be held in German.
Recommended for ages 12 and up. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets must be booked for all participants.
