Let's explore the wonder of the brain
During Brain Awareness Week from March 16 to 22, the fascinating discoveries of neuroscience will be celebrated worldwide. We cordially invite you to participate in our events during this special week. Discover the wonder of the brain and learn more about the influence of brain research on our daily lives.

How Do Genes Influence the Development and Function of the Brain?
On Friday, March 20, Emily Haimerl and Sarah Gorkiewicz will provide insights into their research on autism. Using mouse models and mini-brain models grown in the laboratory, they are investigating how genes influence brain development.

Why is the tiny nematode C. elegans so exciting for brain research?
ISTA researcher Niko Amin-Wetzel will answer this question in the family workshop on Saturday, March 21. Afterwards, you can experiment yourself with microscopes and pipettes!

Exhibition tours with ISTA Neuroscientists
On Sunday, March 22, ISTA Neuroscientists will accompany your visit to the exhibition from 10:30 am. to 2:30 pm., and you can ask him all your questions about brain research!
Virtual Neuroscience Laboratory
On Saturday, March 21, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, you can enhance your visit to the exhibition with interactive stations. With VR glasses, you can immerse yourself in a virtual ISTA laboratory and learn about the everyday life of a researcher. Solve exciting tasks and discover the fascinating world of brain research.
If you prefer something more hands-on, you can also try out simple prostheses controlled by electrical signals on this day. Experience for yourself how small electrical currents flow through your body!
No booking necessary! Come along and learn more about the most fascinating organ in the human body.

VISTA on Tour: Science on the road
During the week, we bring science directly to young people with our Flying Lab. This time, we are visiting BG/BRG Tulln and after-school care centers in Klosterneuburg. Schools and after-school care centers that are interested in similar visits are welcome to contact us.

New science for home: Explore your sense of touch
Have you ever wondered why some parts of your body are more sensitive than others? With this experiment, you can find out how well you can feel in different parts of your body. Which part is the most sensitive? And what does all this have to do with the brain?
