Playful art from research and metaphors.

Shailesh BR, who grew up in a small village in India and was trained as a monk, views science and technology from an unexpected angle: his playful machines blend the spaces between philosophy, poetry, function, and reflection. During his stay at ISTA, he focused specifically on plant research and imaging technologies, translating his fascination into sculptures that reference experimental setups, Indian filmmaking, and playful metaphors.

During his residency, Shailesh brought together the origins of Indian filmmaking, histological microscopy, and scientific observation.
