The VISTA Summer Campus Research Programs are held annually from July to August, offering children diverse about science over the course of a week. The same program is repeated across several weeks to provide as many children and adolescents as possible with an in-depth insight into the world of research.
What is researched at an international research institute and how is work done there? In our VISTA Summer Campus research programs, young people get to know the ISTA campus, meet scientists, visit laboratories and learn about the latest research findings in a fun way. In various workshops, students in different age groups can experiment, research, tinker, program and experience science up close.
Registration for the 2026 Summer Campus will open on March 4, 2026, at 4:00 pm. The link to the online shop will be posted on this page in due time.
Overview of the Summer Campus weeks:
Week 1: July 27–July 31
Week 2: August 3–August 7
Week 3: August 10–August 14
Please note that all six programs are repeated each week. It is not possible to register for multiple weeks.

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of chemistry! We will explore a number of topics through experiments that we conduct ourselves. You will be surprised at how much chemistry is involved in everyday things.
Attention, young researchers! The Gugging Museum invites you on an exciting journey of discovery in and around the museum. We will explore the question of what connects art and science, draw inspiration for creative works from science, play art detectives, and follow in the footsteps of the Gugging artists. Artistic techniques will also be taught.
There is much to discover in the Vienna Woods nature reserve. We will explore different habitats and their inhabitants. Here you will become a naturalist! Build research instruments such as Barber traps and exhaustors and learn more about trapping and counting methods in field research.
Have you ever watched a robot vacuum cleaner? How does it know where to go? In this group, you will build and program your own robots and learn how to create your first computer game.
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of microorganisms and explore how life works on the smallest scale. Through carefully selected experiments, you will discover structures of life that are invisible to the naked eye.
Tinker like a scientist, from robot hands to rockets! In this research program, you will immerse yourself in a creative design process: you will build new things from everyday materials, test them, and improve them.
The specified grade levels refer to the completed school year. Example: Summer Campus Kids (1st to 3rd Grade) means the child is in 1st grade at the time of registration and will have completed it by the summer.
Afternoon programs for everyone: Immerse yourself in the world of science with an interactive exhibition visit and discover the exciting workplaces of researchers.
Put your team spirit to the test by solving tricky puzzles together in our puzzle rally. And because fresh air is also important when doing research, we will spend an afternoon together at the playground. Our program promises unforgettable experiences where you can experience science up close and have lots of fun at the same time!
