Measuring the World with Atoms
Andrea is a quantum physicist. In the lab, she is not just studying quantum physics, but she also actively uses it, controlling atoms and their wave-like behavior. She is working on atom interferometry, a technique she uses to develop very precise sensors, like clocks and gravity detectors. But what is so special about them? These sensors, developed under the laws of quantum physics, are able to make measurements with much less uncertainty than traditional ones.
In this tour, Andrea will give you a sneak peek into her research and show you how quantum physics can revolutionize modern technology. Afterwards, you will visit the interactive exhibition “Science in the Making” with her, where research can be experienced up close.
The tour with Andrea Pupic will be held in German.
This tour is part of ISTA’s program for Lange Nacht der Forschung. Find out more at langenachtderforschung.at
