From Eclipse to Starlight

Experience a summer evening where science, music, and the night sky come together. Enjoy a live broadcast of the total solar eclipse, a concert by Oskar Haag, an interactive astronomy talk, stargazing with the ISTA Astro Club, and a vibrant festival atmosphere on campus.

Program

How do solar eclipses occur, and why have they fascinated people for centuries? In the interactive astronomy talk In Search of Light: From Solar Eclipses to Deep Sky Exploration, the ISTA Astro Club shares fascinating insights into astronomy. Afterwards, put your knowledge to the test by taking part in an interactive quiz.

Experience the total solar eclipse together with other visitors on the big screen. The live broadcast is provided by the European Space Agency (ESA).

Viennese singer-songwriter Oskar Haag brings his distinctive blend of indie pop and atmospheric sounds to the stage. He rose to prominence with his debut single Stargazing, which reached No. 1 on the FM4 charts.

End the evening by exploring the night sky with the ISTA Astro Club. Observe the Perseid meteor shower and discover other highlights of the summer night sky through telescopes.


Throughout the evening, FM4 DJ Phekt provides the musical backdrop with a live DJ set.

In addition to the main program, you can explore the Science in the Making exhibition or watch the film Encounters in the Milky Way in the auditorium until 8:00 PM.The VISTA Science Experience Center, café, and outdoor food and drink area remain open until 11:00 PM.

Getting Here

A free shuttle service will be available between Vienna Heiligenstadt and the ISTA campus for convenient travel to and from the event. The shuttle schedule will be announced soon. You can also reach the campus by public transport or by car.

The event is free of charge. Please book your ticket in advance to help us plan the evening. If you decide to join us at the last minute, you're more than welcome to drop by.
