Measuring the World with Atoms

Andrea Pupic is a quantum physicist. In the laboratory, she not only studies quantum physics but also puts it into practice by controlling atoms and their wave-like behavior. She works in the field of atom interferometry, a method she uses to develop highly precise sensors such as clocks and gravity detectors. But what makes these sensors so special? Developed according to the laws of quantum physics, they can perform measurements with much lower measurement uncertainty than conventional instruments.
