IMST Conference 2026: Researching, Questioning, Understanding

Promoting Scientific Thinking in the Classroom
29–30 September 2026, ISTA, Klosterneuburg

Anyone who wants to make good decisions has to be able to gather, organize, and evaluate information. That is exactly what science does — and has been doing for centuries. In this way, it creates solid knowledge and reliable foundations for decision-making. Yet today, scientifically established knowledge is confronted with a flood of misinformation.

Never before has it been so easy to reach millions of people with conspiracy theories, half-truths, and fake information, thereby undermining trust in scientific and democratic institutions. The internet, social media, and AI models give young people access to an ocean of information. This makes it all the more important that we support students in navigating this sea of information safely and confidently.

The IMST Conference 2026 will take place on the campus of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg. Through interactive workshops and keynote sessions, the conference will provide tools to foster students’ analytical and critical thinking skills in the context of science education.
