Meet the Artist in Residence: Manon de Boer

Born in India and based in the Netherlands, the artist and filmmaker Manon de Boer, is a participant of thus years Artist in Residence Program. She will talk about her unique artistic approach and her first experiences on Campus:

“My practice has always been informed by extensive research into phenomenological and anthropological questions – the instability of memory and perception, being in time, the relationship to the other, the sensorial experience of sound and image. All along, I have been intrigued by the parallels between art and scientific research in their respective practices of creation and discovery.” (Manon de Boer)

From July to September, Manon de Boer will draw inspiration from conversations with ISTA scientists for two ongoing projects: A new film exploring what we can learn from the perspectives of other organisms and new iterations of her participatory board game “Stops,” inspired by scientific ways of asking questions, designing experiments, and embracing play.

The ISTA Artist in Residence - Art & Science is realized in close collaboration with PART International Art Residency Austria.

The program will be held in English.

Recommended for ages 12 and older. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets must be booked for all participants.
